A head-on car crash in Washington Friday, involving two cars, shut down Highlands Drive on Friday. Drivers of both cars were transported by ambulance to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
A 21-year-old woman, the driver of one of the cars, was in critical condition. According to Issaquah Police Deputy Chief Steve Cozart, she was heading uphill (southbound) on Highlands Drive, crossed the center line and hit the other car head on.
Eastside Fire & Rescue Chief Lee Soptich said that several fire engines, aid cars, a chaplain and a public information officer from EFR were dispatched to the scene, as well as Issaquah Police and Bellevue paramedics.
According to Cozart, there were no signs of alcohol at the scene of the injury auto accident.
A team from the state Department of Transportation headed to the scene to investigate.
