Mercedes-Benz has announced that a new accident-related recall campaign is underway. This announcement matters because it impacts drivers across the United States. To Seattle and other Washington locations, this also matters because the issue could increase the risk of an auto accident.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Mercedes-Benz has recalled all units of the 2017 E300 4Matic, E300, and E43 AMG vehicles that have been fitted with LED headlights.
These vehicles come with low beam headlights that may not be able to illuminate the roadway enough because of a misadjustment. As a result, the driver may not see obstacles and other cars ahead well enough to avoid a possible collision.
Mercedes-Benz has already contacted impacted vehicle owners. Once contacted, you should reach out to a local dealer where you can have the headlamp adjusted entirely for free.
If you’re concerned for your safety because you own one of the recalled vehicles, contact the manufacturer to know what you can do until the vehicle is promptly fixed.
Unfortunately, many crashes happen because vehicle equipment is broken, poorly maintained, or because of a factory issue. As such, drivers are not always aware that there’s an issue. But sometimes, drivers are.
