A report states that a $300,000 settlement was reached between Snohomish County and a bicyclist injured in a traffic accident that occurred three years ago. The Washington trucking accident involved a 31-year old man and a public-works employee who hit the bicyclist with his public utility truck.

The accident left the man with two broken elbows. He was subsequently unable to continue his job at a lumber yard and is looking to train for another form of employment.

Washington State is being sued by a man who was paralyzed in a bicycle crash on the Montlake Bridge. The man hopes to force the Transportation Department and the State Patrol to turn over records about similar accidents for a lawsuit in which he is seeking money for his injuries.

According to a report from the Seattle Post Intelligencer, the agencies refuse to give up the records if the information would be used to sue for damages. Information from an assistant attorney general, Rene Tomisser, is that releasing information for a civil suit jeopardizes federal highway safety funds.

A man was critically injured on Beacon Hill early this morning after a Seattle rollover accident and he was thrown from the vehicle.

According to Seattle police, the driver was heading south in the 4600 block of Beacon Avenue South at 1:13 a.m. when he veered into the northbound lane. As he was attempting to return to the southbound lane, he hit a landscaped median, flipping his car.

Police said that firefighters determined the man, who was thrown from the vehicle, suffered life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center. The crash is under investigation.

According to the King County Sheriff’s office, a 48-year-old man from Covington was killed last week after his vehicle went off the road and crashed into a tree.

The accident occurred in the 17800 block of Southeast Covington-Sawyer Road on Thursday evening, at about 11:10 p.m. The man was alone in his SUV, and was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

A tanker truck owned by Reinhard petroleum of Federal Way, Washington,and carrying 10,000 gallons of unleaded gasoline, crashed and burned on Interstate 5. The driver was killed. According to Seattle’s Komo4 News, the driver, William Neil Adams, age 56, of Scappoose, Oregon, was driving the truck from Linton, OR to Salem when the truck went off the road, hit some ice, rolled and then caught fire.

According to reports, Adams had a long career in trucking, they he had only been with the company for about a year. He was the father of two teenage children. The family recently lost their home in a fire and was reportedly living with relatives.

According to the Seattle Times, three people were seriously injured in a Seattle car accident when a speeding BMW slammed into a Subaru that was stopped at a stoplight on Lake City Way Northeast at Northeast 95th Street. The driver and passengers in both cars were taken to area hospitals with life threatening injuries.

The driver of the BMW was jailed on suspicion of Vehicular Assault. Vehicular Assault can be charged if a person is seriously injured when a motorist is driving recklessly, under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and/or driving without regard for the safety of other people.

A 14-year-old driver crashed his car in Sunnyside on Tuesday morning, according to State Troopers. Both he and his 16-year-old passenger were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Both boys are from Sunnyside, but their names were not released. According to the news release from the Washington State Patrol, the 14-year-old was headed on East Edison Avenue about 8:45 a.m. in a 1992 BMW when he failed to yield for a stop sign. The car crossed State Route 241 and landed on its wheels in a canal on the north side of the road.

A three-vehicle car crash in Kent on Monday night on Pacific Highway left a 29-year-old Kent man injured. One man involved was chased on foot and subsequently arrested.

Kent Police spokesman Paul Peterson said that the injured man remained in critical condition with undisclosed injuries, as of noon Tuesday, at Harborview.

Police arrested one of the drivers involved in the King County auto accident, a 24-year-old man, for investigation of vehicular assault. Peterson said that there is an indication that the 24-year-old man had been drinking alcohol.

A 53-year-old man stopped to take his tire chains off in a traffic lane on I-5 near Kent and was struck by a car. He was then taken to Harborview Medical Center following the Kent pedestrian accident, according to the State Patrol.

Trooper Curt Boyle said that the man was driving in the right-hand lane of I-5 just south of Highway 516 around 1 p.m. when he stopped on the freeway. Boyle said that as he stood next to the vehicle trying to take his chains off, another car drifted over, hit his car and then hit him.

According to Boyle, the man flew about 80 feet forward after he was hit. He was listed in serious condition at the Seattle hospital.
